Community Programs and Resources

Consider being a Foster Parent!

Did you know that:

  • In the school year 2017-2018 there were 9 Elsie Allen students in foster care. This is the highest number of all Sonoma County Public High Schools.
  • In the school year 2017-2018 there were 7 Montgomery High School students in foster care. This is the second highest number of all Sonoma County Public High Schools.
  • When youth have to change schools they lose 4 to 6 months of academic progress.

Our hope is that we can keep kids in their schools and community so that they can be with their peers, stay connected to activities, and continue to have the network of support that schools pro vide to their students.

Schools are often a safe haven for students who are having difficulty at home. It feels like a natu ral place to help identify families or individuals who might be willing to care for them.
